Easter

This Easter, we are indulging in these mouthwatering pink champagne truffles that come in a milk chocolate egg from Charbonnel et Walker, a gift from my brother

Easter is a funny one, a sort of pagan holiday for us Swedes. We too of course, have the eggs, the bunnies and chicks, which I suppose are all symbols of Spring and fertility. On top of that, we make a tree called a "påskris" which is usually a bunch of branches with white buds. Some will then choose to decorate it with small ornaments that are meant to look like little witches and with colored feathers.

Eggs too, that have been painted usually by the children, will be hung on the branches. Other than that, this holiday is quite similar to Halloween here. Little girls dress up as witches, and the children go from door to door to get sweets. Witches, according to legend, would meet the devil and ride their brooms in the week before Easter. People were very superstitious and hid brooms and anything witches could use in the week before Easter.

Well, the way my family here in London we will spend the next four days, will be nothing like the above I can asure you. Because Easter or not, it just means that the three of us can be together as a family, and that is all that matters. Me and my boys, spending quality time for a long weekend - what a luxury! :-)

Happy Easter, whatever it means to you
