busy weekend

Good morning, Friday! :-) Today is a busy busy day... Once Bear is back from the gym, we will be going to the baby show in Earls Court - I am really excited!

In the afternoon, my friend Yumiko who lives in Switzerland, and is over for the day, is coming by to see me, and later this evening my father is arriving from Sweden. He will stay with us until Monday, and no doubt will he be surprised to see how much my belly has grown since I saw him last time, in mid June. :-)

Things to buy at the baby show:

bounce chair

baby bath

changing mat (for our changing table which is being built next week)

nappy bin

baby gym

baby bjorn carrier

moses basket

Will report back later. Puss puss!

Karate Kid and pig's trotters

It's a strange feeling knowing that there's a life growing inside you...strange, exciting and yes...very very scary!!! It's the first time I am totally responsible for another human being and a defenseless one at that...and that honestly scares the s---t out of me!

I was so scared at the beginning that i would almost look in the mirror and try and convince myself that I was just putting on yet some more weight...a trick that just doesn't work anymore, now that my stomach is assaulted at all times of the day and night with my baby's movements. They were just flutters in the beginning but has now turned in to full fledged kicks!

But I do love feeling the little one move...and judging by his moves, he is a little Karate Kid, my Sean :-) Nowadays it can really hurt, but I must say it's reassuring to say the least, and it makes me smile every time! Oh I really long for him so much... :-)

Oh, and I was not a happy bunny this morning after learning that my feet may stay swollen for about four to eight weeks after the delivery!!!! And there was me thinking it goes away IMMEDIATELY after the cord is cut? That means I could have piggy trotters for another 2 months or more? How am I going to get my Santa boots on for Xmas???? ;-)

Over to a brighter note, much brighter in fact. Look at these lovelies...bright orange roses that adds a touch of colour to our living room. Don't you just love flowers and what they can do to you?

Car dilemma

We are caught in a car dilemma. The car we currently have is a two seater only (911 4S). Although you can fit a baby seat in the back, the pram just wont fit anywhere.

Alternatively we are thinking of getting a Range Rover Sport which is the perfect family car. Price wise the RR is slightly cheaper so perhaps a quick exchange before 15 November? (not sure how to break the news to Bear, haha... no more getting the roof down and driving 120mph!).

Well a decision needs to be made, and soon!

A fun clip with a serious message...

You can read more about this project here.

Pregnancy pics

Since I started this blog with only a couple of months left to the due date, I thought I'll post a few pictures taken prior to that, throughout my pregnancy (they should be in the right time-scale). I makes me think that I will miss my stomach once it's gone actually..

My pregnancy; week 36

pregnancy

My recession confession

shirt, trousers and a snowsuit, all from Ralph Lauren

baby trainers

So here's my recession confession; Should I feel guilty that it isn't affecting me (well not directly anyway)? Well I don't.

Might sound like nonchalance, but I don't feel this financial hardship. In fact, what I see is that it has brought on huge sales everywhere, and therefore opportunities to get twice as much stuff for Sean, as I could get only a few weeks back :-) Above you'll see what I last got for him.

Swedish mums-to-be gathering

Yesterday was a busy day. My sweet friend and old flatmate, Susanne, came by in the morning for coffee. She brought cinnamon twirls for us and we had a good two hours catch up, and she got to see the “stomach before it disappears” as she put it. :-)

Later on at 1pm I met up with Susanna (also Swedish, with baby boy Alfie who’s four months) and we went to see three other mums-to-be. Triinu(37 weeks), Sara (23 weeks) and Viktoria (29 weeks).

They all live in London, are between 25-33yrs old, and they are all very different but very lovely, and perhaps we wouldn't have been getting together if we weren't pregnant, but that doesn’t matter in the slightest, as we do have this one main thing in common; we are all carrying a little life in our bellies!

It’s very nice to meet women in similar circumstances and to be able to moan about the various problems that come with pregnancy, and also being able to talk nappies, breastfeeding and nipple massaging etc! And no doubt will therebe plenty of that once Sean is born..

I have looked up various playgroups and have signed up for one in particular here in Marylebone (which has an approx three months waiting list). I will also look in to baby massage and baby yoga as well, which Susanna is already doing.

Footie update

Sweden drew 0-0 vs Portugal in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday which puts us second in the group with Denmark now leading. Not bad, Sweden! :-)

Restless leg and finding my inner-self

Grrrrrrr – another night with disrupted sleep..... The main reason is Restless Legs Syndrome, which they say affect 1 in 5 pregnant women.

The condition makes you have a really unpleasant sensation in your legs, an uncontrollable urge to move around in the bed to relieve crawling, tingling or burning sensation deep inside your legs. Was awake between 2am – 4.30am and tried everything to relieve the symptom (including standing on my cold stone floor in the bathroom, which helps, but only help temporarily).

I woke up at 7am again, and by then feeling really crap, moody and down. But then, woohoo, then I listen to this relaxation/mediation tape Bear got me (we are both spiritual and learning more towards that journey all the time) that has a women talking really sleepy over the sounds of waves, telling me to go to my inner place in nature where I will wait and then meet my inner self (this is my intuition by the way), then I sat down with the said inner self and presented a problem to it, then we solved it and fused together as one, and I was told I was being filled with love and to wake up.

So. as a result of that now, I feel much better. I’m still feeling sleep deprived though, but I'll be fine - I'm filled with inner love for myself, thank god :-) I recommend it deeply.

Exploring Oxford

'Ello!!! Got back from beautiful Oxford last night. It was a real treat to go away, with the due date so near, and boy were we lucky with the fantastic weather (we ended up driving with the roof down all the way there).

We had dinner at the hotel on Friday evening then walked around checking out the buidling and it's different prison wings (a little creepy actually) .

We then just spent the rest of the evening in our room cosying up in bed and enjoying our last weekend away before Sean comes.

On Saturday we decided to do the tourist thing and jumped on a open top double decker bus with a guided tour around the town, before heading for Biscester Village, the designer outlet place.

Being several sizes bigger than normal, it was real torture not being able to buy any clothes (or even shoes for that matter with my swollen feet) surrounded with so many nice shops AND with discounted prices. Unfortunately I didnt find a nappy bag for the pram either, so we came back to London empty handed, but happy and relaxed from our mini-break.

Bear has done it again...

done what you might wonder? He's been shopping more for Sean. He said he couldn't help himself, haha. Running a little bit late leaving for Oxford so I just thought I'll have to post what he purchased before we go. It's a gorgeous stripey suit from Ralph Lauren.
Have a wonderful weekend, this one is bound to be a good one! ;-) Puss

Musical time

GOOD MORNING!

Well it's just past 11am, so morning is almost finished now... This morning I've just been pottering around the flat, talking to my mum and packing for Oxford - Woopee! :-)

Bear should be back home soon so that we can hit the road. It's gorgeous outside, perhaps we'll put the roof down... or that might just be pushing it a bit, I mean it it October, haha.
Hopefully the weather stays like this then there'll be plenty of nice pics to post over the weekend.

A while ago I booked a musical for us, The Jersey Boys, and now the tickets have arrived. Jersey Boys is a documentary-style musical based on the life story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, one of the most successful 1960's rock n roll groups. You might know them for their hits
BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY (from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack) and CAN’T TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU (You're just too good to be true) and many others.

Last musical we went to was Mama Mia and if it's nearly as great as that, we'll be pleased.

A hit musical in London

Trouble sleeping?

My "heaven sent" pillow
It can be a real difficult task getting comfortable from end of the second trimester, when you're pregnant.

I am using a special pregnancy pillow The Unique Dream Genii . It was the Winner of Pregnancy Product of the Year 2007 , is designed to aid restful sleep and offers gentle support for your tummy, back and knees without taking up most of the bed. It's quite pricey at £40.oo, but worth every penny. See example of usage below:

Almost Friday! :-)

So we're here again, Thursday, almost Friday! ;-) I am excited, because Bear is taking the afternoon off (again) on Friday. This time because we are going to away Oxford to stay for the night. We are thinking that this might possibly be our last chance to go away before Sean's arrival.

We are leaving London around mid-day to avoid any possible traffic, and will be staying at the Malmaison Hotel that has been recommended to us.

It is a boutique hotel, in a castle building, and it was until as recently as 1996 a fully functioning prison. Since then it has been the set of films such as the Italian Job and the TV series Bad Girls, before getting its ultra-luxurious makeover. I really can't wait to go there, especially since I haven't been to Oxford before.

On our way back, we plan to stop off at Bicester Village, which is a outlet shopping centre selling designer clothes and accessories, with everything from Ralph Lauren to Versace etc. I hoping to find a nappy bag for the pram.

stroll then supper

This is me tonight, going for a walk in Regents Park with Bear. (pics taken with phone so excuse poor quality). Today I had to walk really slowly and I could see in my own shadow, that I was waddling like a penguin. The textile shoes I'm wearing were the only shoes that would fit my swollen feet.

As we came home I made spinach soup which is Bear's favourite (he is easy to please, haha!). I'm heading for bed any minute now as I can hardly keep my eyes open. Back in the morning. Puss

Doesn't look very appetising, I know! But it's bloody delicious if I may say so myself, and very healthy indeed as it's a rich source of iron, calcium, vitamin C and potassium.
