Climbing Kilimanjaro

Last night my darling husband Bear headed off on an adventure of a lifetime. This is what he said about it...

*********************************************************************************

"On Monday I leave for Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. It will be the hardest physical challenge of my life!

My reasons are twofold; as someone once said, ”precious time is ticking away and life is not a dress rehearsal” - in other words we come this way once and I think we should really make the most of our time on this planet and enjoy as much of its wonders that we can. I hope to be able to use the trip to reflect, rejuvenate and to re-connect with my own personal and business “Why”? - in one of most beautiful places on earth.

The other reason is to give something back. I have long been a supporter of the amazing work done by the NSPCC in protecting vulnerable children and want to do my bit to make a difference to the lives of kids in the UK. As the NSPCC say - "Every childhood is worth fighting for”.

If you would like to help out and make a donation please click this link to my Just Giving page.

Wish me luck!

Alan "

- We do wish you all the luck and love in the world and although we will miss you, we are so proud of you Bear xxx

Hair today gone tomorrow

Our family hairdresser Arthur paid us a visit last night and one by one gave us all a trim and blow dry.  I think mum is enjoying some of the little perks of London life now that she lives here! lolz

Happy 2nd birthday Scarlett Grace!

It doesn't feel that long ago that I was getting my IV’s hooked up at the Lindo Wing and our beautiful little princess arrived. A helpless newborn baba who's now, two years later, walking, talking and has a personality of her own.
On Sunday we celebrated her second birthday (and her first too for that matter!) at the Japanese steak house Benihana in Mayfair, then at home with mum and the uncles.
Creatures of habit we are lol, however if something works (especially when you have young children), then why change it?!
'Little Madam' doesn't speak that much yet as we're talking two languages with her. Mainly 2 to 3 word-sentences.  Here are some of the words that she uses regularly:

thank you
no
Mamma+Pappa
iPad
naughty
How are you?
car
vatten (Swedish for water)
water
duck
mormor (Swedish for grandma)
shoes
tack (Swedish for thank you)
look
titta (Swedish for look)
eat
gurka (Swedish for cucumber)
rain
Bing (name of her fav CBeebies program)
hot
jacka (Swedish for coat)
nappy
door
tacke (Swedish for duvet)
open
One, Two, Three
hello
dagis (Swedish for nursery)

Dentist on Devonshire St

Lil man in the chair for a check up

Monday morning saw us paying a family visit to our new Swedish dentist just off Harley Street. Not your usual dentist waiting room with a grand piano and Chesterfield sofas - more like a gentleman's club LOL

House warming party at Mum's

Goodbye Sweden ➔ Hello England

Slowly but surely Mum is settling into life here in the UK. It still hasn't quite sunk in yet that she actually lives so close to us now.  And that the kids and I can just jump on the (direct) train from Marylebone and be with her in just over 30 minutes.
I simply love to finally be able to be spontaneous and no longer have to plan to get together so far in advance!

A holly jolly Christmas

Dressed to the nines
Cheers! - Bubbles for breakfast on Christmas Eve

We have arrived at the Dorchester
My black fedora hat made a festive return
Such a magnificent day for so many reasons - family is everything!
We had reserved a table 6 weeks in advance (!) in the stunning "Promenade "
We all had the 'Festive Champagne Afternoon Tea'
...which included Laurent-Perrier Champagne, selection of finger sandwiches, warm freshly baked scones, pastries and cakes
Park Lane outside the luxury hotel
Dorchester's very own "tea master" preparing a rare blend of Scottish tea would you believe?

Sexy Fish

The last two consecutive Friday lunchtimes I've found myself enjoying the splendour that is the latest addition in the Caprice Holdings (Ivy, Scott’s, J Sheekey, Le Caprice), a restaurant called Sexy Fish.

Forget Chiltern Firehouse, I'm telling you, this place is the shizz, it's got the WOW factor!

They must have spent an absolute fortune as the interior is stunning and the artwork very expensive (bronze mermaids by Damien Hirst, a huge live coral reef tank and lamps by Frank Gehry), a massive crocodile on the dining room wall, and the location in the old NatWest bank on Berkeley Square in Mayfair could not have been better.

I had the Madagascan prawn and yellowfin tuna with hubby (during our traditional Christmas 'child free long boozy lunch'). With the girls the following week I indulged in the Sexy Fish Roll and tempura prawns. All very delicious although not mind blowing. But then again, who cares when it's the best people watching spot in central London and the crowd, well, they are simply sexy :-)
