Yesterday evening Bear and I took Sean for a walk to Kensington Gardens and to what I think is undoubtedly the best playground in central London, the Princess of Wales' Memorial Playground.
The playground is in a guarded compound so that adults can only get in if they have children. Once in, there is a lot to do, and all the activities are about learning. The main focal point is the pirate ship and sand pit (perhaps worth taking a bucket and spade).
However there are climbing frames, sides, swings, little Indian tee-pees and trees with faces carved in them etc.
Toddlers are loving it there, but Sean is of course a little young to enjoy most of the stuff, although he does love the baby swings.
It's even fun for the adults! :-) For example, Bear and I had fun on the musical stepping stones. Each square you jump on makes a different sound. Well, all in all, it's great fun and we will definitely go back there soon. During summer they're open until 7.45pm and have a cafe which even serves low fat frozen yoghurt! LOL
